This is a wonderfully dependable, pollinator-friendly shrub with sweetly scented, white flowers produced in June and July followed by bright, golden berries in autumn. Flowers will be constantly visited by bees and other pollinators for their rich nectar whilst the berries are loved by other wildlife, particularly blackbirds. The name Pyracantha 'Soleil d'Or' translates as 'golden sun' which is aptly descriptive of these thorny, tough and tenacious shrubs - ideal as hedging, tightly clipped stand-alone shrubs or trained against walls and trellis. Plants will also happily grow in a container and should be pruned in May to June as required.Pyracantha 'Soleil d'Or' prefers a spot in moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or partial shade. Once a good root structure has been established pyracantha are drought tolerant too. A hardy, evergreen shrub which reaches up to 3 metres in height and 2.5m in spread.
