This popular variety of Creeping Phlox is an evergreen perennial which produces masses of pale lilac-blue flowers from April to June each year. It has bright-green linear leaves which grow to form a 15cm mound with an abundance of flowers in spring and summer each year. In 2-5 years, it will grow to approximately 20cm high with a spread of up to 50cm given full sun or partial shade, well-drained soil and a south, east or west-facing aspect. This reliable plant spreads vigorously to resemble a flowering moss carpet – hence it is often referred to as moss phlox. The dainty blooms on Phlox subulate ‘Emerald Cushion Blue’ are paler lilac towards the centre with a deeper purple corona and yellow anthers. Ideal for garden edging, cottage and informal planting as well as groundcover in modern, city and courtyard gardens. A great all-rounder.
