Phlox paniculata ‘Blue Boy’ is a cottage garden favourite which is equally at home in more modern planting schemes. Originating in North America, Phlox were introduced to Europe in the 1700’s. The name stems from the Greek for ‘flame’ and Phlox have been a firm favourite in summer gardens for many years. Phlox paniculata ‘Blue Boy’ produces showy mauve blue flowerheads over neat upright clumps of foliage, all summer long, The nectar-rich blooms are loved by bees and butterflies that will come flocking into your garden as the flowers release a gentle sweet fragrance. Phlox are happy grown in either borders or containers; excellent cut for your home, lasting well in a vase. Phlox are slug resistant and tolerant of most soil conditions, however, do prefer a clay or loam-based soil in sun or partial shade. Reaching an approximate height of between 75-100cm and a spread of up to 60cm, Phlox paniculata ‘Blue Boy’ is a fully hardy perennial.
