Penstemon heterophyllus ‘Heavenly Blue’ has long been a favourite here at Hayloft. Low mounds of blue-green foliage lie beneath stems that are densely packed with mauve, lilac and blue bell-shaped blooms from May to October and often longer. Penstemon are incredibly popular and understandably so; they have such an easy-going nature and an unbelievably long flowering period. There is even an international Penstemon society whose members are known as Penstemaniacs. ‘Heavenly Blue’ is a trouble-free variety which is resistant to slugs and other garden pests. Furthermore, it is reliable, dependable and an incredibly floriferous beauty. Prefers a site in full sun or partial shade, is unfussy on soil conditions and happy in either a border or container. A semi-evergreen, hardy (H4) perennial, which grows to a height and spread of 45-60cm.
