Tell Me More...
Diascia barberae ‘Breezee Orange’ is the result of recent breeding and brings you better weather resistance along with bigger, more bountiful blooms than traditional diascia varieties. These extra qualities make it a ‘must have’ for your borders, baskets and containers. Diascia are relatives of the foxglove and the snapdragon which can be better understood on close inspection of these popular flowers. Diascia barberae ‘Breezee Orange’ bears hundreds of small, trumpet-shaped blooms which burst along wiry stems. These develop into frothing streams of flowers from May to October over compact, semi-evergreen mounds of foliage. Plants are often referred to as Twinspur. This is because of the spurs on the back of the flowers contain a special oil collected by bees in its native country of South Africa. Diascia barberae ‘Breezee Orange’ prefers to be grown in well-drained soil of any kind which benefits from sun or partial shade. Plants reach a height and spread of 30cm. As half-hardy perennials they require protection from frost over winter if you wish to reinvigorate them the following year.
