As a texensis variety of clematis, this beauty hails, generations back, from Texas in the USA. These varieties naturally produce masses of small-medium sized flowers, up to 6cm long, with decoratively twisting petals. ‘Princess Kate’ is a Group 3 clematis which flowers later in summer on new season’s growth and should be pruned back hard in late winter or early spring. Clematis texensis ‘Princess Kate’ prefers moist, well-drained soil of any kind, preferably with an alkaline or neutral pH and plant in full sun or partial shade. A hardy (H5), deciduous climbing shrub which reaches a height of 4m, and spreads to 1m.
