Alstroemeria 'Majestic William'Blushing white and pink flowers for half the yearWhile many alstroemerias bloom in rich, hot colours, Alstroemeria 'Majestic William' offers a softer, pale alternative. Like all alstroemeria it boasts a generous flowering period, lasting for months on end from June until November. Though exotic-looking, alstroemeria is far hardier than it looks and will thrive easily in most UK gardens. It is notable for an exceptionally long lifespan, often still flourishing many decades after being planted. We love seeing 'Majestic William' in a pastel scheme, with other long-flowering summer perennials such as Erigeron karvinskianus, Penstemon 'Apple Blossom', Nepeta grandiflora 'Summer Magic' and Erysimum 'Bowles Mauve'. Alstroemerias also make fabulous cut flowers and are beloved by arrangers for their vase life of two to three weeks. Pull rather than cut stems, as this encourages further growth and avoids damage to the crown. For best results grow in full sun or partial shade in most, well-draining soil. Alstroemeria is also well-suited to growing in a container. H: 45cm S: 30cm. Hardy to -10 C.
